Whitebox Studios – Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Graphic Design for Marketing (GDMA) Class of 2011 is now graduating and they’re having a grand grad show!
How did we get connected to Kwantlen’s exclusive program? Whitebox Studios is part of a bigger company, called Blitzgear, Inc., a Marketing/Design/Print company. Each year Blitzgear Inc. sponsors the Blitzgear Award for Graphic Design Excellence and Community Involvement at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. The recipient for the past two years is Erica Craig, a talented, multi-tasking, passionately creative graphic designer. She’s graduating this year and will be joining our team as well.
The theme of this year’s Grad Show is RUBBERBRAND. Here’s a quick description of them:
RUBBERBRAND™ is the strategic thinking collective of 18 graduates from Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Graphic Design for Marketing Class of 2011. We are a diverse group made up of energetic individuals who are passionate about designing change. We are ready to roll.
They’re so creative and unique, that they create this pretty awesome Youtube Channel to explain their own design style and creativity.
Their Grad Show has a variety of events. You can check out their gallery from May 2 – May 14 at the HSBC Pendulum Gallery, 885 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, or their Industry Night on May 5, Thursday, or listen to their speaker event on May 12.

They sent out 100 rubber band balls to Vancouver’s creative industry professionals, and they can creatively design it. Anyone can join too by grabbing the rubber band ball image from the page, and design it. Then people vote on it through Facebook on the contest page here.
The winner will be notified on May 11th, 2011, mentioned at the event, and receive two admission tickets to our speaker event the ‘Future of Print’. Good luck!

Whitebox Studios continues to support creative students like Erica and other graphic designers. Quite a good number of designers have also photographed or showcased some designs here at Whitebox, availing the student discount. It’s refreshing to see so much great work happening in town!
